Samsung Electronics Company is a global electronics company that divides its business into five business areas: Semiconductor; Liquid Crystal Display (LCD); Telecommunications Network; Digital Media; and Digital Appliances. The company's shares of stock are publicly traded and all issued and outstanding shares are listed on the Korea Stock Exchange.


As of December 31, 2005, the major shareholders of the company, including preferred shareholders, and their respective shareholdings were as follows: Citibank NA (11.03%); Samsung Life Insurance Co Ltd (6.28%); Samsung Corporation (3.48%); Lee Kun-Hee and others (3.03%); National Pension Corporation (2.84%); NTC-GOV SPORE (1.85%); and, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Co Ltd (1.09%).
