SR Telecom designs, delivers, and deploys fixed-wireless access (FWA) solutions that supply broadband data and carrier-class voice services to end-users in urban, suburban, and remote areas worldwide. These solutions are utilised by a range of customers in more than 130 countries across the globe, including large incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs), competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), and private operators of telecommunications systems. SR Telecom also provides full turnkey services to its customers, including network planning, project management, installation, and maintenance. SR Telecom's specific focus is on the emerging WiMAX industry, and the company is a principal member of the WiMAX Forum, a co-operative industry initiative which promotes the deployment of broadband wireless access networks by using global standards and certifying interoperability of products and technologies. Following a strategic review, initiated in May 2007, that concluded it was in the company's best interests to actively pursue the sale of the company and/or its assets, SR Telecom filed for creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act with the Quebec Superior Court in November 2007. The sale and restructuring process is likely be completed during the first quarter of 2008. SR Telecom was founded in 1981 and became a publicly traded company in 1986. Its common shares are now traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (having been de-listed from NASDAQ on December 2, 2005). As of June 30, 2007, DDJ Capital Management LLC held 262,337,317 common shares, representing a 35.3% holding.
