BCE is Canada's largest communications company. The company's primary focus is Bell Canada, which encompasses the company's core business operations and represents the largest component of its business. Bell Canada is the nation's leading provider of wireline and wireless communications services, Internet access, data services and video services to residential and business customers. Bell Canada's operations include wholly-owned Bell Mobility (wireless services) and a majority stake in Aliant (local and long-distance telephony, wireless, Internet, e-commerce, interactive multimedia, data, and managed network services in Atlantic Canada). BCE's other main subsidiaries include Bell Globemedia (information and entertainment services) and Telesat Canada (satellite communications and systems management). The company is in the process of reducing its interest in Globemedia and has announced plans for a public offering of a minority interest in Telesat. In March 2006, Aliant and BCE announced plans to create an organisation to combine Aliant's wireline telecommunications operations in Atlantic Canada, information technology operation and other operations with Bell Canada's wireline telecommunications operations in its regional territories in Ontario and Quebec and its indirect 63.4% interest in NorthernTel LP and Telebec LP, to form the Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund. The transaction was completed in July 2006 and the Fund was established. BCE's shares are listed in Canada, the US and Europe.
