The COLT Telecom Group is a European provider of business communications, offering data, voice and managed services, backed by customer service. As of December 2006, the Group had around 50,000 mid-size and major businesses and wholesale customers across Europe. COLT owns and operates a 13-country, 20,000km network that includes metropolitan area networks (MANs) in 32 major European cities with direct fibre connections into 14,000 buildings and 14 data centres.

COLT was incorporated in August 1996 and, through a series of transactions, acquired the operating companies that have conducted the COLT Group's business since 1992.

COLT Telecom Group SA is the holding company for the COLT Group of companies. Shares of COLT Telecom Group SA began trading on the London Stock Exchange on July 3, 2006, following a Scheme of Arrangement whereby the company replaced COLT Telecom Group Limited (formerly plc) as the ultimate holding company and listed entity for the Group.

COLT's major shareholder is Fidelity, one of the world's largest investment fund management groups.
