Rogers Communications Inc (RCI) is a diversified Canadian communications and media company engaged in three primary lines of business:

  • Rogers Wireless is Canada's largest wireless voice and data communications services provider and the only carrier operating on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE technology platform.

  • Rogers Cable and Telecom is Canada's largest cable television provider offering cable television, high-speed Internet access, residential telephony services, and video retailing through its Cable Operations and Rogers Retail divisions, and voice communications services, data networking, and broadband Internet connectivity to small, medium, and large businesses through its Rogers Business Solutions division.

  • Meanwhile, Rogers Media holds media assets with businesses in radio and television broadcasting, televised shopping, publishing, and sports entertainment. On July 1, 2007, Rogers Wireless Inc and Rogers Cable Inc were amalgamated with RCI, meaning that they are no longer separate corporate entities and have ceased to be reporting issuers.

RCI also holds a 50% stake in the Inukshuk Wireless Partnership, a 50:50 joint venture with Bell Canada that is constructing a pan-Canadian fixed-wireless broadband network based on WiMAX technology.

RCI is effectively controlled by its President and CEO, Edward Rogers, who owned 90.9% of the company's Class A voting shares as of December 31, 2006.
